Believe in Students
Differentiated Instruction
In order for students to reach their full potential, teachers must develop lesson plans, which are tailored to every student’s need. In every classroom one enters, students will be different from one another; therefore, it is crucial to create lesson plans that incorporate different learning styles. Some students learn better through visual aids, while others learn through audio stimulation; nevertheless, this does not make one student any smarter or more capable than the other. As Albert Einstein once said: “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” I believe in equity over equality as students are different and have different needs. By this I mean that I believe in providing extra help and guidance to students who need it more. A classroom based on equality will provide every student with the same amount of attention, but a classroom based on equity will provide each student with the attention and care they particularly need. |
Know Your Students
The Whole Child
Good teachers do not simply teach; they make a difference in children’s lives. They not only care for students’ academic needs, but they care for their personal and social needs as well. As a future educator, I strongly believe every child deserves an equal opportunity for education. Education is important as it prepares children for the outside world by arming them strategies and methods to handle any obstacle or problem they might encounter throughout their lives. Additionally, a well-rounded education provides students with the opportunities to learn how to interact with others and gives them tools and knowledge to be good citizens and productive members of society. I believe education is about helping students reach their full potential, not only academically but personally, socially, and emotionally. |
Hands-On/Engaging Learning
I strongly believe in creating and developing engaging and hands-on lessons. I believe in creating a student-center classroom where students partake in the construction of their understanding as opposed to being spoon fed information. Children are brighter than we might think and we must allow them to further their knowledge by experimenting and learning first hand. |
Technology
It is incredible how far we have come in the world of technology. With the advances in technology, almost everything is possible and accessible. There is no doubt that implementing technology into the curriculum enhances teaching as well as learning. Students are different and learn differently; thus, using technology in the classroom will allow to tap into students' learning preferences by using visual and auditory aids. Technology, which is easily available, can make lessons more engaging, motivating, and fun for students and will most definitely grab every student's attention.

Multicultural Education
I believe in creating a multicultural classroom environment, where every student feels accepted, respected, and cared for regardless of their culture, ethnicity, socio-economic background, sexual orientation, and abilities or disabilities. My classroom is one where everyone can feel free to share their thoughts and opinions in an open environment. The classroom is a place where everyone constantly works on him or herself to improve and reach their fullest potential without being criticized for mistakes, as I believe that we learn through our mistakes. To learn more about my belief on creating an inclusive classroom environment, click on the button below. |
Authentic and Meaningful Evaluation
I believe that school is meant to arm students the tools, skills, and knowledge that will allow them to become productive members of our society. Thus, I believe in giving students the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge in next contexts that will allow them to see the relevance of their learning to their day-to-day lives. Providing students will authentic assessments makes learning meaningful and more significant. To learn more about my belief on evaluation and assessment, click on the button below. |
